The Dresser Ministry is an opportunity to help and support a mom in a crisis pregnancy. We do this by outfitting them with clothes, diapers, a dresser, and prayer. The dresser is located in the Lobby where you can sign up to bring items for mom and baby. Please return these items by Sunday, October 25.

Here is the story of the mom we are supporting:

KS came to Women's Care Center to get a pregnancy test and ultrasound to confirm viability and gestational age. She also wanted to specifically discuss termination options. She explained to her counselor that she was in a mentally and verbally abusive relationship and believed her only way out of the relationship was to terminate her pregnancy. She also revealed that she was diagnosed with a hepatic adenoma and enlarged liver and worried for her own health should she choose to keep the pregnancy. She had an almost nonexistent support system; no one else in her corner to encourage her and love her through this overwhelming time in her life.

KS had 10 visits and countless hours of conversations with her counselor while contemplating her options. Her counselor encouraged her to get a medical opinion regarding her liver, which she did. With each visit, her counselor built her up and empowered her to make a decision that she wholeheartedly wanted to make all along and KS chose life! It was not an easy road to get to this final decision as she had changed her mind numerous times during those visits and conversations, trying to talk herself out of carrying the pregnancy. With each visit and each conversation, her counselor lovingly encouraged her that she is strong, capable, and worth investing in herself. Without this support or “life-line” as KS put it, she would’ve chosen otherwise.

KS transformed from feeling unworthy, unloved, and depressed to a strong, confident, independent, and nurturing woman and mother. She was able to reframe her way of thinking, with the help and support of her counselor. She is currently living out a dream of hers; she enrolled herself in college, and is taking courses to one day become a psychologist!

She continues a relationship with her counselor and attends parenting classes at Women’s Care Center. She has done a lot of self-reflection and now realizes her worth, something her counselor always saw and encouraged in her. She decided to name her baby girl, Story. Her name is very befitting of the “Story” and/or journey to welcome her into the world.

When her counselor shared the dresser ministry with KS, she became emotional. She stated, “I just can’t believe there are people out there like this. What a blessing, what a blessing!” She feels incredibly grateful and appreciates the kindness of many strangers willing to help her out.

KS wanted everyone to see her beautiful “Story” before her big delivery day! Enjoy!
